#06 – How am I doing during this pandemic? | July 2020 update

What is up everyone?

The last time you’ve heard from me is probably right before the whole pandemic started, and I just wanted to finally give you guys a quick update about what’s happening behind the scenes.

If you’ve been living under a rock in the last month, I will say June had to be one of the hardest months I had to go through personally and professionally.

Being in quarantine started to drive me wild because I just couldn’t get enough sleep and it was constantly on my mind.

Then the #BlackLivesMatter movement, I was horrified about the events at what was happening, it affected me to the point that I started to question my own actions if I’m doing my best as an ally and a friend to all my black peers.

And then my grandfather had to go to the hospital, and I was constantly worried since he was all by himself in the ER.

The icing on the cake, when all the allegations about sexual harassment, assualt, and abuse, came to light within the streaming and gaming industry on social. It hit me the hardest because this topic intersected with my personal and professional life as I recognized several names that I personally knew. It was disappointing and heartbreaking to learn that these people that I knew were secretly disgusting people. As an empath, I was confused but also concerned for them. Some I didn’t care for and they deserved to be punished. While some others, I do hope they recognize their problematic behavior and will change for the future.

And on top of all these, myself and my entire team at work were preparing to launch our first multiplayer game, so we were all hard at work to promote and get this game afloat when we launch.

So I’m emotionally and mentally drained from social media. All the drama that has unfolded. And I hate reading about all the horrible things that people don’t believe that masks aren’t necessary and just thinking that this pandemic never happened. It’s just frustrating that there are people out there who are so selfish or lack any sense of empathy for others. /sigh

Besides being a downer with all this, I might be streaming a bit more this week as I’m currently on PTO. So I’m looking forward to relaxing, playing some games, catching up on some things that I couldn’t get around to, and just enjoy the break away from work.

Also, today is my anniversary with Luis, and it’s a huge milestone for the both of us, so I’m looking forward to spending time with him today.

I hope to catch you all around whenever I’m available!
