With all the hype of Destiny 2, I realized that I don’t have enough apparel to show my love for the game. I had no T-shirts or any cool memorabilia to place in my room.
Destiny was my very first FPS and I picked it up rather quickly after I twisted my ankle which put me bedridden for 3 months – that’s different story to tell.
Fast forward to 3 years later, I’m on a Greyhound bus on my way back home to NYC after a long weekend and during my 7-hour trip back, I was scrolling through Instagram and saw this beauty!
Well, duh. I had to have it because I needed to change up my necklace rotation. I always wear the same 3 necklaces all year round. Seeing that this was a ThinkGeek exclusive for $19.99, I said, “why not?” and ordered right away.
It arrived a week later and since this was my very first ThinkGeek purchase after “window-shopping” all these years, I found this little easter egg in my Return Shipping Label:
Now that I have the necklace physically in my hand, it’s a little heavier than I thought it would be. The chain is slightly long, but it hangs nicely just above my chest and it compliments my outfit. Also, the chain is sturdy, so I can definitely expect this piece of jewelry to have a long life expectancy.
Plus since it’s a pretty medallion, it can pass off as any regular other necklace that you can find at your favorite jewelry store. But only real gamers, moreso Destiny players, will recognize that it’s a Strange Coin for Xur.
One little random perk is the glow-in-the-dark feature. It’s a cool little thing, but I’m all about how it looks and it’s certainly great quality.
If you’re looking for another piece of jewelry to add to your collection to show off your nerdy lifestyle, the Destiny Strange Coin Medallion Necklace should be on your wish-list especially for your favorite Hunter, Warlock, or Titan. I must warn you that it might contain nickel if you have a nickel allergy.
I’m loving this thing and I can’t wait to wear it more often with my outfits!
Now I’m off to whip out my Golden Gun and burn some Cabal to the ground.
